Connie Fan

President

Trained both in architecture and landscape architecture, Connie’s design work focuses on place making that reflects the cultural, environmental and architectural surroundings for the land. A frequent recipient of ASLA awards, Connie’s designs create beautiful, memorable places, as well as enhancing real estate value. Her work includes a wide variety of projects ranging from commercial, institutional and planning projects to public streetscape revitalization. She brings energy and enthusiasm to all phases of every project, a dedicated approach with extensive benefits to the client.
Outside of the office, she is actively involved with the American Society of Landscape Architects, Urban Land Institute, Fairfax County Development Process Review Committee, Tysons Partnership, McLean Planning and Zoning Committee, McLean Planning Committee and AIA DC.
Connie enjoys gardening, reading, photographing, travelling, and volunteering at her children’s schools outside of work.

Amol Deshpande

Principal

ASLA, PLA, LEED Green Associate

Trained as an architect, landscape architect and planner, Amol Deshpande brings a wide range of expertise to the design and management of complex and challenging projects ranging from compact urban settings to large scale community designs. As a registered landscape architect and a LEED Accredited Professional, he is committed to incorporating sustainable design practices in his work while creating a unique sense of place for its users. As a Principal, Mr. Deshpande has designed and managed several award-winning projects and assisted in achieving LEED certification for several projects.

Mark Gionet

Principal

ASLA, PLA, AICP

Mark Gionet is part of the second wave of leadership at LSG, joining in the 1980s. His career includes stops in Florida as a landscape architect and Massachusetts as a community planner. He holds an MLA from the University of Massachusetts, and a BA in History from Union College. Mark has contributed to the planning and design for over 50 parks of all kinds and nearly 20 senior housing campuses and communities plus a variety of other project types.
Mark enjoys a good community process and believes that the most meaningful and ultimately successful ideas come from users’ own experiences. He coaxes these ideas out of task forces, hearings, and committees with humor, patience and a keen sense of the public’s often contradictory interests and expectations.
Happiest when immersed in nature and the arts, Mark and his wife live within walking distance of the Potomac River and Mount Vernon. When not gardening, watching baseball, or listening to classical music, they have traveled to all seven continents observing nearly 2,000 bird species in a wide range of environments.

Mark Lewis

Principal

ASLA, PLA

Throughout his career in master planning and landscape architecture, Mark Lewis has contributed to the design of many successful large-scale residential communities, office and mixed-use parks, and recreational areas. As a principal and lead designer, Mr. Lewis directs services in site analysis and design for a diverse portfolio of challenging work, ranging from compact urban parcels to developments of several thousand acres.

Jasmine Chen

Project Manager

Associate ASLA

Jasmine  joined the LSG team in 2019. She graduated with a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Design from University of British Columbia. Prior to joining LSG, Jasmine has worked in CSCEC where she had experience working with various landscape projects types such as urban plazas, waterfront parks, campuses, headquarters and streetscapes as well as on international development projects in other parts of Asia. Her appreciation for the beauty and vitality of living in poetically framed landscapes of poise, movement and dynamism was cultivated by her twenty years of living in and traveling across the vast and variegated landscape of Canada. As a result, she has always been a strong advocate for grounded placemaking.
When not in the office, she can be found either exploring museums and galleries, reading about faraway lands and times or working on various natural history illustration projects.

Melissa Miller

Office Manager

BFA, MFA

Melissa Miller serves as the Office Manager for LSG Landscape Architecture. Prior to settling in Virginia, Melissa worked in Austin, with the University of Texas at Austin, Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, as an Assistant Curator for the Performing Arts Collection, with the peer review panel for Austin’s cultural arts council’s grants program for performing arts companies and with several theatre companies in Austin in the 1990s. Melissa also served for several years as a member of the jury for the Jane Chambers Playwrighting Award for the Women in Theatre program of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
Laurie Beth Donnachie

LAURIE BETH DONNACHIE

Senior Landscape Architect

ASLA, PLA, ISA, CERTIFIED HEALTHCARE GARDEN DESIGNER

Laurie Beth Donnachie is a professional landscape architect with over a decade of experience and a passion for thoughtful planting design. She has worked, primarily in Northern Virginia, on a variety of private and public projects ranging from urban parks to landscape planting plans for 100+ acre data center campuses to project management for urban mixed-use entitlements. Laurie Beth earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree with honors from the Pennsylvania State University. In addition, she is an ISA Certified Arborist and Certified Healthcare Garden Designer. Outside of the office, she enjoys exploring the local area’s gardens and hiking trails

Sabrina Miller

Associate

Associate ASLA, PLA, LEED Green Associate, CPSI

Sabrina is a licensed landscape architect and holds a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University. Prior to LSG, she has worked and studied in upstate New York, Boston, France, and the Netherlands. She is fascinated by the way the landscape enriches and interacts with the community, and the way design, material, ecology, and function can layer to create a memorable space. She has experience with projects ranging from small urban rooftops to large regional parks. Her work also explores representation through different modes of digital and hand drawing.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, painting, and teaching her dogs new tricks. 

Effy Wu

Landscape Designer

Associate ASLA, LEED AP BD+C

Effy graduated with a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University. Prior to joining LSG in 2022, she gained experience in residential subdivision landscape and hardscape design in the Atlanta metro area, and large-scale public park design in China. Effy loves that landscape architecture is a combination of art and science that blurs the boundaries of many discrete disciplines to produce beauty, functionality, and habitat. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring the mysteries of history, culture, and geography.

Ruby Yen

Landscape Designer

Associate ASLA

Ruby joined LSG in 2021. She graduated with a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from the Ohio State University, and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Tunghai University in Taiwan. Before joining LSG, Ruby has had experience working on urban projects in Taiwan and Ohio. She enjoys traveling to different countries and seeing their cultures. Ruby believes Landscape Architecture is a unique profession which builds a bridge between people and place. In her free time, she likes walking in woodland areas, making unique handcrafts, and drinking tea.

Haoyue Wu

Landscape Designer

Associate ASLA

Haoyue joined LSG in 2022. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from University of Virginia and a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Tongji University in Shanghai. Before joining the LSG team, she has experience in residential communities and commercial quarter landscape design in China. Haoyue believes that landscape architecture is a dynamic process that involves both nature elements and culture of the society.

 In her leisure time, she likes to travel and explore different cultures and beautiful scenery.
