Provided land planning and landscape architectural services for this residential community in Loudoun County, Virginia.
The site comprises 1,000 acres, or approximately one-half the total Lansdowne property that began development in the late 1980s, and contains over 2,000 residential units including townhouses, condominiums and single-family detached homes, as well as an 18-hole golf course and community center.
LSG provided master planning services for Phases 2 and 3, skillfully preserving sensitive woodland areas and the native habitat. Lansdowne Community Development, LLC also retained LSG to create a community theme/identity with the design of entry/gateway features, streetscape and open space treatments. The design work involved modifications to the Phase I master plan in an effort to maximize the community entrance design and to preserve existing trees in other areas.
LSG was further retained to design outdoor recreational amenities associated with the new Potomac Club, including a resort-style pool and amphitheater. The design theme embraced the historic Virginian heritage by incorporating the use of local stone, native plantings, and an iconic water feature.
