LSG Landscape Architecture was retained by the developer of Tysons Overlook for site design and construction documentation services. The 11 story office building in Tysons, Virginia, is positioned with public space that overlooks the adjacent Gannet Headquarters pond. Key areas of the design included development of the streetscape along Jones Branch Drive, with particular attention given to street trees, signage, the bus stop, and plantings. Additional points of interest were the formal tree lined granite paved auto court, positioned at the front of the building and a breakout patio space with fountain, overlooking the pond. The property achieved LEED Gold recognition and received NAIOP’s 2015 Award of Merit: Best Speculative Office Building. Subsequently, PenFed Credit Union moved its regional headquarters to the site in 2016 in an effort to enhance their “access and visibility”. The event terrace is regularly advertised as a trophy feature. Lush plantings and an on-site walking path link the various spaces and the off-site connections.
